Rockwood Bakery sits quietly on E 18th Avenue, offering more than just a quick coffee stop. It blends the feel of a neighborhood breakfast spot with the charm of a dedicated bakery, making it a go-to place for anyone looking to start their day with a solid dose of comfort food and caffeine. This is the sort of café where locals drop in for a mid-morning break or grab a scone and latte on their way to nearby Manito Park.

The space itself has a warm, inviting vibe — not overly trendy, but comfortable enough to settle in with a book or catch up with a friend over coffee. You’ll find the seating easy to access, which makes it suitable for solo visitors who want a quiet moment or couples on casual Saturday coffee dates. The friendly banter from the staff often threads through the room, hinting at how much they enjoy their roles, which adds to the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere.

When it comes to the menu, Rockwood leans into home-baked quality with a variety of pastries that stand out. The cinnamon rolls, for example, have a distinctive texture that balances crispy edges with a soft buttery center, delighting those who appreciate a fresh, carefully crafted pastry. Other favorites include mixed berry scones and muffins like cranberry and chocolate chip, which pair naturally with their coffee offerings.

Speaking of coffee, the mocha lattes and caramel lattes are popular picks that complement the baked goods well. While the standard black coffee may not impress everyone — some locals note it can taste a bit too strong or stale — the more crafted espresso drinks like the in-house mocha and matcha latte hold their own and offer a more approachable entry point for coffee aficionados and casual drinkers alike.

Rockwood also offers savory options that fit well into a brunch or light lunch rhythm. The ham and cheese croissant and chicken chipotle sandwich provide hearty choices that feel just right when you want something beyond sweet. Seasonal items like the pumpkin bread or Hungarian mushroom soup make it evident the bakery keeps a foot in seasonal and local flavors.

Overall, Rockwood Bakery feels like a spot where the community comes for steady, simple pleasures rather than the flashiest presentation. It’s best enjoyed during mid-mornings or early afternoons when the light filters softly through the windows, and the pace slows just enough to savor a coffee and pastry while watching the neighborhood hum along. Visitors heading to nearby green spaces will find it a natural detour for refueling, while locals appreciate the consistent, friendly service and homey baked goods.

Great coffee shop! The staff were welcoming, friendly, and really made us feel comfortable. The coffee and pastries were delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. A gentleman with a mustache took our order, he was fantastic. We also chatted with the cashier, she was super sweet and had such a bubbly personality. (wish we had asked their names!) We mentioned we were visiting the town, and she told us she had moved here a few years ago. She even shared some great feedback and recommendations on places to visit, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience and we truly enjoyed our visit. Highly recommend!

Food would be 5 stars but the quiche crust was overbaked and the texture of the quiche was not great. The cinammon scone was AMAZING, coffee was good, seating was easy to find, the neighborhood is super cute, stopped by on the way to Manito Park.

I love sitting here and reading, journaling and just enjoying the atmosphere. I just wish their black coffee was better quality. It always tastes so old and too strong. If they offered some pour over coffee a whole new wave of people would pour in (no pun intended).

Stopped by here on my lunch break and I'm glad I did but also afraid I will be coming back far too often lol. The cinnamon rolls are possibly the best I've ever had. They're crispy like a danish yet perfectly buttery soft, just mouthwatering. And the zucchini walnut bread was heavenly. As well as the cookie. Everything tastes so fresh and home baked and is very filling. The people up front are friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be returning to this place.

We visit Manito Park every time we come to Spokane, but this was the first time we had ever tried the Rockwood Bakery, and it was a nice surprise. Love the decor, just felt like a warm, inviting space to sit and enjoy a nice coffee and a wonderful baked item. The Counterperson was bright, cheerful, and seemed to really enjoy her job - which was very refreshing to see. I had a HUGE slice of strawberry rhubarb pie (with whipped cream on the side!), and my wife had a blueberry muffin. My pie was awesome, my Wife thought the muffin was a little dry, but had good flavor. Prices were very reasonable. We will be back for sure!

Came at noon on a Saturday and it's a pleasant amount of busyness. They have a plethora of food items and all of their coffees come out looking and tasting great!

I stopped by Rockwood Bakery in the Rockwood neighborhood of Spokane after visiting Twisted Stitch Yarn. The bakery is a sizeable location with serious traffic on a Saturday. Even then, there was plenty of seating in the back of the big space. I definitely will work on my thriller novels here. And there are quite a few large tables for bigger groups. I loved the energy in the front of the store and the staff is quite nice. The clerk addressed me almost immediately when I stood in front of the baked goods display case. I liked that because I didn’t have to go chasing someone. That was good. The snickerdoodle cookie I bought was massive. It wasn’t a little tidbit. This was a cookie the size of a desert plate. I love it. And, most importantly it tasted really good. It was a good road snack as I traveled around Spokane working on business. I love the hand written menu - it’s a fun touch. It beats the plastic electronic displays. It gives you a comfortable feel like it’s a small location. The warm plank flooring adds to the feel of the location. It’s a bit different than the more modern outside, but it works.

A gem in Spokane, Rockwood Bakery is a must-visit spot. Their coffee is spectacular, and the food is just as impressive—everything I tried was absolutely delicious. Beyond the great food and drinks, what really makes this place shine are the workers, who are an absolute delight. The atmosphere is neat and cozy, making it the perfect place to hang out with friends. Whether you're looking for a quick coffee or a place to settle in for a while, you can't go wrong with Rockwood Bakery.
